Professor at the Institute of Natural Fibers and Medicinal Plants National Research Institute, Leader of hemp textile research team
Dr Malgorzata Zimniewska is professor at the Institute of Natural Fibres & Medicinal Plants – National Research Institute. She is a leader of hemp textile research team. Malgorzata Zimniewska served as director of the Institute of Natural Fibres & Medicinal Plants from 2018 to 2021 and was working as a Head of Department of Innovative Textile Technologies at this Institute from 2004 to 2018. Malgorzata Zimniewska is a member of Advisory Council of BIOEAST Board - Central and Eastern European initiative for knowledge-based Agriculture, Aquaculture and Forestry in the Bioeconomy. She is an expert of BIOEAST Foresight for the bioeconomy and expert of Thematic Working Group Bioenergy and New Value-Added Materials. She has served as vice chair of Quality Control for Research Executive Agency, Future and Emerging Technologies in H2020 of European Commission. She is a member of Scientific Council and Working Group on Fibres and Textile in EIHA European Industrial Hemp Association. She takes part in work of Bioeconomy Working Group launched by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. She works for National Smart Specialization: Circular Economy – Water, Fossil Raw Materials, Waste, and is a member of board of Main Council of The Research Institutes in Poland. She served as a Chair of DNFI - Discover Natural Fibers Initiatives World Network from 2013 to 2016, as an expert of Task Force on the Challenges from Competing Fibers of International Cotton Advisory Committee in USA, also as expert of European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing. She is a Member of Council of The Textile Institute in Manchester – world professional textile association. Malgorzata Zimniewska has led many international, European and national research projects. She is the expert of the National Centre for Research and Development in Poland. She is the author and co-author more than 160 scientific articles published in research journals, conference proceedings, book chapters and author of six patents.
