Joan Simó [M] (PhD Engineering) Biology BSc, PhD on Agri-food engineering and biotechnology. He is the UPC agrotech coordinator. He worked as a Chief Scientific and research director in Miquel Agustí Foundation. He participated in: competitive projects of state scope; European projects and transfer projects both in the public and private fields, of which he have been the responsible Researcher in more than 45. As a result of these projects, he published 31 articles in SCI journals, in 15 of which as the first or last author; 1 book chapter; 6 dissemination papers and several Technology transfer activities towards the primary sector. The field of research has been quite broad, both in terms of plant species (onion, tomato, beans, cabbage, etc.), and at the level of technologies used (molecular biology, sensory analysis, chemometrics, agronomy, breeding, plant production, etc.). Since 2008 is teaching genetics and biotechnology at UPC. He is one of the major drivers for the creation of the Cannabis Hub.
In the business field in 2018 he co-founded the company Germina dedicated to urban green design, and in 2019 he co-founded the company ADN Institut, dedicated to human genetic counseling and diagnosis.
