Jason Argyris is project director in the Genomics and Biotechnology group and cannabis breeding program co-lead at the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) in Barcelona, Spain. He is based at the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) where since 2019, he has conducted research focused on the development of modern genetic tools and resources for the improvement of cannabis. Jason completed his PhD in Plant Biology at the University of California, Davis (2008). As a plant breeder, he has applied molecular breeding techniques and tools for crop improvement in fruit and vegetable species for over 20 years in both the public and private sectors. He has published 22 peer-reviewed research articles and two patents.
