Located in the historic hearth of Berlin, the Hanf Museum informs since 1994 on all aspects of Cannabis. The museum is visited next to every day by schools, tourists and interested persons (Mondays closed!). On 300m² one can inform on historic hemp findings, historic craft to modern uses in building houses, insulation, heading over to textiles, biocomposites, paper. Definitly you find one of the oldest tools: the rope, made from hemp fibres. We come to the medical applications of Cannabis, going to Arts like Orientalism and the countries of origin. We talk also about Cannabis in music, like Reggae, Rembetiko and Jazz. At the beginning of the 20th century hemp was banned from the world markets. We show the reasons behind this and current political events. Inside the exhibition you can see living hemp plants. The museum is also an area for events, for example the Lange Nacht der Museen (Long Night of the Museums) in August. The museums basement is a meeting point for regular groups, for example our Patients Round Table on Cannabis as Medicine and the Industrial Hemp Roundtable.
